Visiting Sorrento in July | The definitive Guide
The scent of basil with its age-old Mediterranean fragrance
rises from the streets becoming one with the sound of the TV
the reflection of venetian blinds obliquely mirrored on the walls
which are covered with lots of photographs
that are reminiscent memories, memories, memories.
Then there is my grandfather wearing a white vest
shorts, leather sandals and virility
he gazes his eyes towards the dazzling reflection of the sun
balancing between the shadow of the pines and the coast
while the same sunset has moved his heart for more than ninety years.
He puts his right arm around me and every mid July,
he whispers to me
“come è bella la stagione” .

Sorrento in July : Things to do and Events
This month is the beautiful one. The month of July is considered the middle of the summer, parties, festivities, happy atmosphere and fireworks displays. The best month for workers who anticipate their holidays, which are commonly taken in August in Italy, or simply for those who, while working, enjoy a quick lunch break in one of the Marina’s beach clubs. During the week, beaches are filled to a normal compacity, but it is difficult to find a place on weekends. I strongly suggest to be ready by 10 am or to reserve your sun lounger and umbrella whenever possible. On Saturdays and Sundays, the Gulf of Sorrento looks like a crossword puzzle, the trails of the boats mark broken lines in the blue sea. In the bays of Capri, Positano, Nerano and Galli, they are crowded with boats and swimmers.
During weekends, I recommend to all my guests to organise one of the most fascinating experiences to try in Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. A visit to the ruins of Pompeii in the morning with a tour, at lunchtime in a vineyard on the slopes of Vesuvius, one of the most fertile areas of the Mediterranean, where you can taste wine and unique products with an exquisite taste.

In the region around Naples, the effects of the eruptions on agricultural lands have been sensational. In fact, except for the volcanic region around the Mount Vesuvius, farming in southern Italy is difficult because the soil is generally quite poor. After the two large eruptions that left the area blanketed with deposits of tephra and fragmented material, the region has been intensively cultivated and for this it was possible to plant the area with vines, tomatoes, vegetables and flowers. Every square foot of this rich soil is used.
