Da Vincenzo

Seafood Restaurant | Families, Friends, Couples

Located in the heart of Positano town, a few steps from the centre and in the pedestrian zone, you will find Da Vincenzo, one of the most popular restaurants in Positano and amongst the locals for its traditonal Italian cuisine with a modern twist, the high quality products and the welcoming atmosphere.

Considered one of the best sea food restaurants in Positano, the indoor dining room is set into the cliff and it feels like eating in a cave. Outside, the sign proudly displays their name and slogan, “Da Vincenzo, Home Kitchen since 1958” and I can confirm that once you try it, you will absolutely find it difficult not to visit again to experience the same great flavours.

La Tagliata

Traditional Restaurant | Families, Friends, Couples

Considered a must visit restaurant on the Amalfi Coast, many travellers and visitors from all of the world make sure that when visiting Positano book a table at this wonderful restaurant. Located on the hill of Montepertuso and around ten minutes drive from the crossroads of Positano that take you to the centre of Positano, the three terraces of La Tagliata offer you one of the most enchating views, fresh local products, excellent first courses and meat based main courses. If you are looking for a romantic and friendly restaurant with view on the Amalfi Coast where you can have local food specialities in a cosy atmosphere, La tagliata is the right place for you. La Tagliata restaurant in Positano is one of the most famous restaurants on the Amalfi Coast for its successful combination of three main factors: its genuine products, the breakthtaking views and the typical Italian atmosphere.

Da Kasai

Gourmet Restaurant | Friends, Couples

I admit that Da Kasai is one of my favourite Amalfi Restaurants whether you’re passing through or lucky enough to live on the coast, it is one of those restaurants you absolutely must try to live an unforgettable culinary experience. Da Kasai is located in the upper area of Praiano and boasts a beautiful view of the Gulf of Amalfi, but even in the cooler months it’s great to visit as you can take your dining experience inside: the bistro is very warm and welcoming and taken care of and curated even doing to the small details.

As for the food, the products are very fresh and the dishes are original, the recipies of the traditional Praiano tradition are blended in harmony with gourmet dishes. In short, the restaurant showcases a perfect mix that rarely balances all of the flavours in this way and thanks to the experience of the team, it takes form in a very pleasant way without ever changing or going out of style.

After having dined here numerous times, my personal recommendation is to try the very fresh raw ham appetizer (served with sauces, soy and lemon), the mussel soup (one for two people), a fantastic linguina with squid which is a must of the restaurant and the fish of the day. The prices are very good for the quality of the products and dishes you will enjoy and the professionalism of the staff both in the dining room, in the kitchen and for the wonderful location.

Trattoria Da Armandino

Traditional restaurant | Families, Friends, Couples

If you are looking for a family style restaurant located by the sea where you can enjoy fresh fish dishes in an informal setting, then you must visit Trattoria Da Armandino in Praiano. Set in the characteristic fjord of Marina di Praia, between rocky walls and the Gulf of Amalfi, this seaside trattoria is known throughout the coast for the excellent hospitality of the owner Armandino and his traditional Praiano recipes.

I have had lunch in this restaurant more than once and I assure you that I have always come out full and satisfied with the freshest products and generous portions. Among the dishes I noted in my travel diary, the roasted and marinated anchovies, the soutè with seafood, linguine with scampi and tubettini with squid stand out above all. The fame of the restaurant can be understood from the tables always set both for the excellent value for money, for the exceptional location and the friendliness of the staff. Super recommended for couples, groups of friends or families.

Il Pirata

Seafood Restaurant | Families, Friends, Couples

Also located in Marina di Praia, but hidden behind the rocky cliff edge you will find Il Pirata, one of the most romantic restaurants in the entire Amalfi Coast due to its unique position close to the sea. If you want to dine under the moonlight facing the Gulf of Amalfi, I recommend you book a table on the terrace and start the evening with an unforgettable aperitif. Il Pirata, which by day is a seaside resort, a few hours before sunset turns into an elegant restaurant with an informal atmosphere.

The menu showcases the local cuisine of sea and land with some dishes of national inspiration, structured with traditional dishes that occasionally is mixed with original interpretations. I recommend the raw fish starter, mussels in white wine sauce and pepper, the lemon-scented first courses (risotto, ravioli and mixed pasta) and linguine alla Nerano. Prices on average are high but justified by the spectacular location and the quality of the products.

La Bontà del Capo

Traditional Restaurant | Large Groups, Friends, Families, Couples

Located in the beautiful area of Conca dei Marini, La Bontà del Capo is another great place to visit if you’re looking for high quality food with a great atmosphere, amazing sea view and excellent service. This restaurant is great for families, large groups and couples, in the evening I suggest to book a table on the outside terrace just before sunset, you won’t be dissapointed as you watch the sun setting on the water with the view of the Li Galli island directly in front of you.

The menu showcases Traditional Italian dishes of Pasta, Pizza, Seafood and Meat dishes, so there is something for everyone here. I personally recommend the mussels in white wine sauce and pepper for starters and the lobster linguine for main. If you’re a lover of desserts, they have a great selection of cakes and pastries all from the famous Pastry Chef and Shop ‘Sal di Riso’, also the Tiramisu is homemade by the Chef as well as the many flavours of fresh ice cream they have on display.

Armatore – La Dispensa

Seafood Restaurant | Couples

Bordering with the municipalities of Vietri sul Mare and Maiori you will find the small town of Cetara, a pretty fishing village famous for the finest tuna on the whole of Amalfi Coast and producers of the town’s famous anchovy extract, Colatrura. This unique restaurant is located under Cetara’s arches, where you will find the outside seating directly facing Cetara’s small beach and seafront, the restaurant is very small and is better suited for Couples rather that big groups or families due to the limited seating.

You can enjoy either Lunch, Dinner or even an aperitif here, the menu showcase a combination of traditonal and gourmet dishes all based around one main product, the Cetara Anchovies. The owners themselves are a family of Fishermans dating back through past generations who have one of the biggest fleets in Italy for catching tuna and anchovies, they also own a factory where they produce anchovies and the famous Colatrura. The pricing is also very reasonable when you take into consideration the high quality fish, great location and sea front view.

Our Top Tips

  • The Amalfi Coast is made up of fifteen municipalities and getting to each one can sometimes take more than an hour to reach by car, we reccomend planning your day according around the place where you are staying.
  • Most restaurants on the Amalfi Coast serve meals all day long if you’d like to enjoy a late lunch or early dinner. However, typically lunch is served from 12:30pm – 3:00pm and Dinner from 7:30pm – 11pm, and in the summer often much later.
  • During the busy summer months, we would recommend to reserve a table in advance, at least a day or two before to ensure you secure your table.
  • If you’re wanting to try Traditional and Authentic Local Italian Cuisine, avoid the typical tourist traps which are usually the restaurants with lots of staff standing outside wanting to get your attention.
