Getting to Ravello from Sorrento

Ravello is known for being the city of music and romance, with its fantastic villas and breathtaking panoramas. If you want to visit Ravello from Sorrento, we recommend you to move by land as Ravello is located in a hilly area. I would like to focus on this point because many of our guests often do not know this and often have difficulties in getting around by public transport and in the changes that need to be made in Amalfi.

In fact, there are no means of transport that take you directly to Ravello from Sorrento, you will have to change in Amalfi but we will tell you about this in more detail later in the article.

Unlike Amalfi and Positano, Ravello does not have a port and is not located on the sea but that doesn’t make it less of a reason to visit, its Villas, the auditorium and the historic centre represent it as the queen of the Amalfi Coast. About an hour and a half from Sorrento by car and after passing the town of Amalfi, here you will find all of the information to discover the town by land taking the journey along the famous coastal road, the Amalfi Drive or by sea with private boats, shared tours and ferries.

Sorrento to Ravello: With Private Driver

The town of Ravello is located slightly higher up than the other coastal towns, more precisely between the municipalities of Amalfi and Minori. More than the other destinations, we recommend visiting it with a driver who will guide you directly to Ravello as no public transport from Sorrento arrives directly there. Without traffic, it takes about an hour and a half to get to Ravello from Sorrento, a one-of-a-kind walk especially if shared with a professional and experienced driver. This is why we have selected a team of certified drivers recommended for professionalism and reliability, who have new Mercedes cars or minivans signed with air conditioning and comfort.

We recommend this travel option for couples, families (especially with small children) or groups of friends up to 8 people who:

  • Want to arrive to Ravello in the early morning or late in the evening
  • Want to stay for dinner in Ravello, Amalfi, Praiano or Positano and return independently
  • Have a few hours available and want to experience the Amalfi Coast Tour
  • Prefer to travel comfortably
  • Want to avoid large crowds and busy bus lines
  • Want to avoid changing vehicles or stops
  • Have heavy bags and don’t want to stress
  • Have strict timetables and cannot risk delays

The driver will pick you up at the requested address or accommodation, help you to arrange your luggage in the car and accompany you to your destination following the fastest and least traveled route, also you will have the option to stop when you want to for a break to take photos of the panorama or for a lunch break along the way.
