Visiting the Beach this Summer
Are you still dreaming of a beach holiday in Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast this summer? With life after lockdown here slowly and cautiously heading back to normal, we are sure that more than ever people are craving some time in the outdoors and at sea, here we have put together this article for you to find everything you need to know about what changes have been put into place and what going to the beaches will look like this summer. Although this will be very different from your usual kind of beach day, the positive news is that not only will you feel much safer with the social distancing in place but you will be guaranteed to be much more comfortable and not experience the usual crowds that you would have usually found.
Gone are the days where you can spontaneously visit the beach, online bookings have now been implemented in order to prevent mass gatherings and overcrowding. As part of the new health and safety measures put into place it is required that all visitors to the beach, including locals, must make a reservation in advance. Of course you can imagine that the bookings will be filled quite quickly, therefore we strongly advise you book your beach slot well in advance to avoid any disappointment, especially if you’re only in Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast for a few days. Even as a local it is proving very difficult to make a reservation even a few days in advance, booking well in advance is neccesary to ensure you are guarenteed a place. Once your booking is made your contact number and surname is logged for a maximum of 14 days and could be used as a form of contact tracing should there be any occasion in which it is reported that you have come into contact with someone infected with the virus.
Health Check and Requirements
Upon arrival your temperature will be checked to ensure you do not have a high temperature or any symptoms that relate to COVID-19, should your temperature be over 37.5°c you will be refused entry. All members of staff also have their temperature checked daily to ensure they are healthy and safe to be working in the bathing establishments. There is no requirement for you to wear a protective face mask as you are in an open outside space so it is much easy to keep a good distance from those around you, especially since there will no longer very full and packed beaches as before since there is now a limit to how many people visit at once.
Once at the beach and inside the bathing establishments all of the sun-beds, loungers and chairs have been positioned with a safe distance of 1 metre apart to ensure good social distancing. Musical events could also be banned unless they are seated listening events where social distancing measures can be guaranteed and put into place. There will also be no more aperitifs on the beach or any other events such as dance activities, parties, social events and buffet tastings but of course as time passes the measures have the possibility of loosening and going slowly back to normal.
