9:30AM | Walking the Path of the Gods

The best starting point to begin the Path of the Gods is from Bomerano, a small hamlet in the town of Agerola and then ends in Nocelle, in the territory of Positano. We recommend you to start at Bomerano and go towards the direction of Positano instead of the other way around as this way the views will always be in front of you rather than behind you. Furthermore, Nino the tour guide advises that the best way in to walk half the trail and then return back to the starting point of Bomerano but we will go into more detail about this in another article. We were travelling with our adult children (group of 7) and it was unanimous that Nino’s hiking tour of the Path of the Gods was our best day on the Amalfi Coast. Firstly, Nino wisely organised an early start, picking us up at our hotel. So we had a lovely breeze coming up off the sea. He supplies trekking poles for those that want them. He was a wonderful, cheerful, genuine, passionate and knowledgeable guide, sharing his love of the area, history, plants and flowers. You can feel his passion for nature! We had a few of the juiciest, sweetest wild mulberries I have ever tasted and were shown many wild herbs. Nino had organised a snack stop at Antonio’s hut, who is a farmer of goats and tomatoes. He served us fresh lemonade, wine, goat cheese, bread and tomato (and a fresh lettuce salad that another farmer had generously thrown down to us at the start of the walk). So special to share an authentic, natural experience with those that are living up there. Antonio’s tomatoes were the simply the tastiest we’ve eaten – perhaps he should call them “Tomatoes of the Gods”. The views are spectacular. Do not miss this experience! I would do it again in a heartbeat. Thank you Nino for a heavenly adventure!

We enjoyed our afternoon hike on the Path of Gods with Fulvio. He picked up our family of four and drove us about an hour to the beginning of the trail (and back). Fulvio is personable and an easy going person. He was knowledgeable about the area and the flora/fauna on the hike. We learned a lot. Loved all the views! Loved meeting the goats on the trail and learning about the history of the goat shepherds and what being a shepherd entails. It was fascinating! The hike is relaxed and not rushed, which was the perfect tone for having our 10, 14 year old along on the hike. The hike speaks for itself and the beauty leaves you in awe. Fluvio was a great guide and I would highly recommend him to anyone thinking of hiking the Path of Gods or surrounding areas.

Our family of 5 had a memorable day with Fulvio as he guided us along the Path of the Gods. We felt his pride in and stewardship for the area’s stunning geography, flora and fauna, culture and history. He was beyond patient with our family and always said ‘I have all day with you’ whenever we’d take a longer break to admire the scenery.
