Visiting Sorrento in April

Things to Do and Events

April is considered one of the best months of the year to visit Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. The weather is even warm enough to visit the Island of Capri. It’s also a great time of year to visit the famous ancient Pompeii Ruins considering it’s not yet the peak of summer, you will avoid waiting in long queues to enter and be able to explore the ruins without the summer crowds, you can read more on what our Pompeii Ruins Tours include here.

Our Amalfi Coast Tours also gives you the unique opportunity to visit the costal towns such as Positano, Amalfi and Ravello. What to Pack

Don’t forget to leave space in your suitcase for a swimsuit and beach towel. The water isn’t as warm as in the summer months but in the warmer areas of the Peninsula, those that are more exposed to the South, you’re able to swim and spend pleasant days by the sea.

It’s very easy for you to be able to reach the beaches of Sorrento, both in Marina Grande and Marina Piccola. For those of you staying in our B&B, Holiday home or Hotel in the centre of Sorrento, the distance from these beaches is very short. Walking through the public gardens of Villa Comunale you’ll be able to either take a lift, which costs €1.80 per ride or use the steps. If however you have a car or scooter you will have to head towards the Sorrento Harbour, Porto di Sorrento, where you will find spaces to park in one of the two private car parks.

In terms of clothing, these are my personal recommendations of what to wear when visiting Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast in April:

  • A good versatile and waterproof hiking jacket
  • Sweater or Cardigan, great for those chilly evenings
  • A swimsuit and beach towel
  • Great comfortable walking shoes
  • A backpack or travel bag for your day trips
  • Small and sturdy umbrella, just in case
