9:20AM | Visit to the Duomo of Naples

Arriving in Naples your first stop we will be visiting the sacred Duomo of Naples, it is here that the bones of Saint Gennaro, known as the protecter and most beloved saint of the Neapolitan people, are kept. The Duomo is, of course, one of the largest and the most important churches in the city, it is in fact a combination of various artistic styles, ranging from the gothic of 300’ to the neo-gothic of 800’. If you’re a lover of Italian culture and history this will be a fascinating and insightful start to your day.

10:30AM | Discover Naples Old Town

The next stop takes you to the Old Town of Naples, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995, this Historical Centre is based on the same urban foundations as Greek architecture. The main roads to visit are Via Dei Tribunali and Via San Biagio Dei Librai, or as called by the locals, ’Spaccanapoli’, precisely because of the way in which it splits the city in two. The Old Town is located in the heart of Naples and here you can admire all of the old school beauty of the area, the busy markets, the historical references at every corner, the vibrant colours and the aromas that light up your senses.

11:30AM | Cristo Velato, Naples Underground or Cloister of Santa Chiara

After visiting the Old Town, you will have a choice of three options depending on your interests and preference, below we have provided for you some details about each of the stops to help you better make your decision.

Cristo Velato

For lovers of traditional artworks this is the best next stop for you. Cristo Velato, also known as ‘The Veiled Christ’, is a marble sculpture created by Giuseppe Sanmartino in 1753 and is exhibited in the Cappella Sansevero. It’s considered one of the worlds most remarkable sculptures because of the way in which Sanmartino recreated the suffering of Christ through a veil, formed by the same block of marble. Truly breathtaking to see in real life, the detail is impeccable you’ll be sure to ask yourself, is this really marble?

Naples Underground

If you’re still wanting your fix of history and culture, a visit to Naples Underground is the perfect next stop for you! Due to the incredible civil engineering work, the underground of Naples is a very unique place to visit if you are in the city. In the III century B.C. the Greeks began digging the underground to derive the turf necessary to build walls and temples, and creating burial spaces underground. The Romans then continued to dig and enlarge this great underground network to create the first aqueduct. The tunnels are wide but the and passageways are very narrow, when created were made just for the sole purpose for man to walk along.

Church of Saint Chiara

One of the most beautiful and romantic locations that the city offers is certainly the Majolica cloister of St. Ciara, which presents itself in all its baroque beauty and opulence, with its 72 pillars, interspersed with benches, completely covered by majolica made and hand-painted by Neapolitans tilers in 1742. A perfect little stop to take some time to relax especially if visiting with your partner, you can enjoy this moment of quality time together while admiring the beauty of this site all at once.

1PM | Pizza Stop in the Old Town

The best place to enjoy a classic and delicious Neapolitan style pizza is of course in the Old Town. This is where many of the original pizzerias began, their use of traditional methods passed down by generations alongside using freshly grown local produce as well as a few secret ingredients is what makes for the perfect pizza and trust me, once you take your first bite you will agree with us. Our driver will recommend you the best places to visit to enjoy a pizza. You can go for the classic but delicious Margherita or a more complete and full option, topped with a variety of seasonal products.

3PM | Ice Cream Stop at Casa Infante

After enjoying a delicious traditional Neopolitan pizza, of course there is room for one more delicious sweet treat before making your way home. What better snack than a delicious Italian ice cream? A few minutes from the Naples underground entrance there is one of the best ice cream shops in the whole region, Casa Infante, with their wide choice of tastes, cones, creams and desserts we will delight our palate once again. 

4PM | Return to Sorrento

At the end of the tour our Professional and English Speaking driver will accompany you back to your Hotel or Accommodation. The journey will take approximately 1 hour to reach Sorrento from Naples.
