What is the Current Situation in Italy during COVID-19?

One year ago I published my first post on Facebook and I announced the start of the lockdown in Italy in response to the growing pandemic of COVID-19 in the country. It was March 10, 2020. I was scared, confused, worried about the future and most of all overwhelmed by conflicting emotions: I still can’t believe it!

However, as of 11th February 2022, 90% of the Italian Population have completed the regular Vaccination Cycle of the first two doses and so far 6 out of 10 Italians have received their Third Booster dose. These promising statistics further provide a positive sign about the future of the upcoming travel season.

Hundreds of readers every month are still waiting to know the answer to the golden question, is it still possible to travel to Italy without restrictions for Spring and Summer 2022?

In short, the answer is YES! Currently, to Travel to Italy you need:

  • Proof that your are Fully Vaccinated (With two doses or one of the Janssen or Johnson&Johnson vaccine)

  • If having recovered from COVID-19, Proof of recovery (180 days from the first positive test)
